Raptor Watch-Part 1

I'm back from my trip at Tanjuong Tuan, Port Dickson. It's really something i didn't expect at all.

In the beginning of the trip i was thinking: "Hmm... Raptor Watch, Raptors... Sounds like some kind of extinct lizard roaming the Earth thousands of years ago. And i knew that dinosaurs don't exist anymore on the face of this world. But, The Raptor Watch that was held in Tanjung Tuan is a seasonal viewing of another kind of raptor.

There are indeed Raptors. As in the bird of prey-also known as the raptors, a type of bird characterized by hooked beaks, sharp talons, and keen eyesight.

Black buzzards soaring above in the sky. Click to see the close-ups.

Held every 15-16 March in Tanjung Tuan, the site gives the most spectacular view of migrating birds from South China to the islands of Indonesia. This year, Ilham Hotel is the host of the event and it draws a crowd of around a thousand people consisting of participants and volunteers.

Just few minutes at Tanjung Tuan, the organisers of Raptor Watch, which are the Malaysian Nature Society, where announcing the arrivals of the flocks of birds passing overhead. And everyone was like:" Where? where ?! where?!"

Up in the sky.

I also had a good share of viewings courtesy of Minox Binoculars.

On to the other highlights at Raptor Watch. First stop, we had a walk into mother nature. I didn't took much pictures in the jungle cos' the terrain int he jungle was uneven and it's hard to get a foothold in the after-rain soil. Despite that, still managed to take some pictures.

Mushrooms.

After tracking through the jungle, we came out into an opening and took a group picture.

After a short rest, we headed straight to the light house. It's a uphill climb from the opening. Expectantly, some of us were tired from the beating sunlight and the tropical heat. So we stopped and took more pictures. Since some people thinks my blog lacks picture of chicks, so there you are:

Under my umbrella. Ella ella eh eh eh.

Finally the light house. The panorama around the light house is superb. You would see the sea from the hill.

After that, we went for the Mangoove Walk. Continue Raptor Watch-Part 2.
