A few days ago i was watching Kingdom of Heaven at a local cineplex.
At one point of the movie, where the battle scene was about to commence, Salahuddin had an army of banner and flag barriers.
MEN CARRIED FLAGS NOT BATTLE ARMS.
Onto the battle the men went with coloured flags of green, brown and black.
Balian of Ibelin travels to Jerusalem to do battle with Muslim flag barriers?
Of course, the battle did have people with arms of war.
At the end of it, the defender of the city and its people, Balian was defeated and surrendered the city of forgiveness and hope to Salahuddin.
Who was Salahuddin by the way? I'm not a big fan of Crusades' history.
Many elements was uncall for, such as:
-After ten seconds of training he was, "The Perfect Knight".
-Depiction of Muslims is surprisingly tolerant. Christian warmongers are the bad guys here. Kind of reminds you of today.
-Why is it that whenever someone(hero) leaves a village in Hollywood films, about 10 kids appear from nowhere and run after them?
Formulaic perhaps, but well-executed. Kingdom of Heaven made me feel like leaving the "blacksmithy" that is our dull modern urban existence and finding a cause worth fighting for, but Crusades just aren't what they used to be.
No flags was ever seen on battle fields ever since.

i did note that training part... and btw, just how did he become the great strategist he was to match salahuddin?
It's in his royalty blood, inherited from his father.
From his Baronhood that he was prophesized to be the great knight and brilliant strategist.
Really illogical.
